Experienced Procurement Officer

Partnering with our key personnel on Civil Construction Operations
Permanent position, Mon-Friday with early finish Friday, RDO’s and flexibility.

About the role:

We are looking for a procurement specialist to support our operations with experience in best practices for end-to-end goods and services sourcing, procurement and stock management. The position assesses engineering plans to determine construction material quantities to inform procurement requirements. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, self-management and organisation capabilities, whilst maintaining high quality relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered within scope, budget and scheduled timeframes.

You will be someone who doesn’t shy away from hard work, making yourself available to support your peers and take on challenges in a positive, solutions focused manner when they arise. Some background in civil construction, domestic or commercial construction experience will serve you well in understanding our complex environment and customer focus. You have excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft and procurement systems. To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications with minimum 3 years experience in a comparable purchasing, economics, supply chain or engineering position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and success in leading procurement processes, continuous improvement initiatives and striving for best practices.
  • Lead sourcing and procurement of goods and services, including maintaining purchase orders in the finance system.
  • Ensure probity and integrity is maintained in all procurement transactions, being aligned to industry/regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, processes and systems. This ranges from onboarding new suppliers, raising purchase orders, following up approvals, monitoring quality and compliance (including inductions), delivery timeframes and reconciling delivered goods with orders and invoices.
  • Financial & commercial acumen in supporting project delivery and assisting in preparation of project tender submissions regarding material quantities, availability and costs.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure procured goods and service availability aligns with project delivery programs, and updates communicated to key personnel.
  • Evaluate suppliers, products and services, negotiating contracts, expectations, maintaining supplier register and current price lists.
  • Inventory management controls, equipment compliance and routine checks/tests are regulated
  • Have a reputation for attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem solving skills. Being outcomes driven with a core ability to plan & prioritise effectively to meet demanding deadlines

Also required to:

  • Hold a current Queensland Drivers License (Fork lift and MR truck license an advantage).
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a current QLD Blue/White Construction Card.
  • Be versed in Occupational Health and Safety legislation and their practical application.
  • Be willing to up-skill and participate in all training as required.
  • Undertaking local travel for site visits and inspections across the JAC Civil operations, with a willingness to under take manual handling tasks within the scope of your ability.
