Skilled Civil Construction Leading Hand

 Interested in building structures for a wide variety of Civil Construction projects on the Fraser Coast.

** Competitive renumeration with work vehicle – hourly rate of $50 plus penalties, annualised wage package in excess of $100k plus Super, based competitively against regional companies, strictly tailored to applicant’s skill levels and relevant experience.

About the role: We are looking to employ people who are interested in a wide range of projects & Civil Operations activities, focused on quality outputs, developing skills and who collaborate well with other employees. Reporting to the onsite Civil Supervisors on a variety of regional project sites, you’ll develop / enhance our project quality and practices to drive productivity, meet timelines and contribute to a safety-first work culture. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a breadth of knowledge and experience and skills within the civil construction industry and be able to effectively plan, organise, lead and deliver small projects.

Applicants will have proven experience and achievement in a combination of the following: road construction, footpaths, kerb & channel, storm water, drainage, headwalls, plant operations, set-up and quality finishing of a variety of concrete structures. You will demonstrate resourcefulness and flexibility, especially around utilising and sharing available resources in a small company environment, in a professional and safe manner. Ability to work autonomously, taking accountability for all aspects of allocated tasks and priorities. Proven ability to trouble-shoot to solve problems in a calm and effective manner that drives collaboration and teamwork that delivers quality outcomes.

To be successful in this role you need to be multi-skilled in some of the below:

  • Follow or request direction, being able and willing to work autonomously and take initiative to act on what needs to be done, directing one or two other workers
  • Skills that contribute to road construction
  • Skills that contribute to quality installation of storm water and drainage systems
  • Read and understand construction drawings, set-out profiles and string-lines using laser level/dumpy.
  • Experience & skills in civil earthmoving equipment, Excavator, Roller, Skid Steer and HR licenses being an advantage
  • Build and lay out forms as required according to specifications with the ability to make calculations, construction of high-quality formwork for ‘pre-cast’ operations
  • Must be physically fit to perform manual handling, labouring activities and other site duties as required to meet program objectives, during machine down time, or to support the team
  • Adhere to and promote JACC’s high safety and environmental standards
