Glen Grohn
Director and Senior Engineer
Glen is a registered civil/structural engineer (RPEQ) with over 25 years’ experience working in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. In 2004, Glen established a civil/structural consultancy, Grohn Construction Design (GCD), that provided a range of conception, design, project management and administration services to the Wide Bay region.
In 2008, he recognised the need for a local civil construction company and established JAC Civil Pty Ltd. With his unique experience, Glen can project manage a range of end-to-end civil construction projects from estimation/budgeting, engineering and design, resource allocation, financial monitoring, site geotechnical investigations and reporting, stakeholder liaison and the day-to-day management of work in progress. This includes advanced structural and civil design for town planning, in-house survey and 3D design (12D ) of council roads and streets, and project engineering management of various Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) projects and state-controlled roads. Glen’s hands-on approach is integral to JACC’s ongoing operational success.
Debbie Leeson-Rabie
General Manager
Debbie brings a wide range of national and international engineering and operations expertise to JACC. Over Debbie’s career she has led departments that maintain and manage $2.47 billion of infrastructure and fleet assets, provided waste services, and regional port management. She was also President of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA Victoria) and held non-executive roles as Director of the IPWEA (Victoria and national board) and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (IPWEA Victoria). With over 30 years of experience in civil, mechanical and transport engineering disciplines –working for a metropolitan water authority as well as local governments, consultants, and civil contractors – Debbie brings a wealth of knowledge and capability to JACC.
As General Manager, Debbie effectively oversees all aspect of JACC project delivery to ensure we remain the preferred project delivery partner in the Wide Bay region.
Marcus Klein
Operations Manager
Marcus is a highly skilled operations manager with over 30 years of experience with all types of civil construction. These projects have varied in size from $500 000 to $131 million and include bridge building, road construction and restoration, drainage and pipelaying, pump stations and subdivisions. Marcus also has a demonstrated track record in supervising transport infrastructure projects, where he ensures compliance with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail specifications, regulations and protocols.
Marcus is responsible for all JACC’s daily operations. Projects that Marcus has held full responsibility for have excelled in resource management, utilisation and productivity. He has consistently delivered project program milestones and met, or improved, forecasted cost targets.
For Marcus, getting the job done right the first time depends on picking the best people for the team and always putting safety first. His successful management of projects up to $10 million has qualified Marcus to expertly lead any project.
Reitz Van Zyl
Chief Financial Officer
Reitz is a certified accountant with a demonstrated history of financial management for international and domestic companies. He has over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing sector and has always been involved in the operational and strategic side of JACC business.
In addition to performing traditional financial functions (accounting, payables, receivables, payroll, IT, procurement and treasury), Reitz provides strategic direction on corporate and financial governance, financial forecasting and the adoption of effective IT practices for the civil construction industry. His leadership role also involves monitoring detailed financial performance indicators, project tracking and post-project performance reviews with our operational teams. This is a critical aspect of continuous improvement and an ever-increasing aspect of exceeding end-to-end project quality and contract delivery expectations.
Brett Preston
People & Performance Manager
For over 20 years Brett has held professional and leadership roles within the human resource functions of various large corporations. This experience is complemented by his master’s degree, a commercial acumen that supports operational effectiveness and his background as a qualified fitter and turner in the construction industry. Brett also gained considerable knowledge from working within the regulatory framework of the Queensland public service sector (Queensland Health), in his role as Director at Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS). Projects Brett has worked on have won multiple awards for innovation and excellence – including, more recently, when WBHHS won the Qld Training awards 2021 for “Large Employer of the year” North Coast region.
His role at JACC has accountabilities for people and performance strategies, information management systems, safety culture, special projects and change management. Brett’s achievements in these areas have been instrumental in establishing JACC as an employer of choice.
Shawn Sidorenko
Workshop Manager
As Workshop Manager at JAC Civil, Shawn oversees the operational profitability of the region’s largest range of plant and equipment. He has extensive experience in the fields of civil earthmoving and workshop management, deployment, plant and equipment utilisation, and vehicle fleet management. Shawn’s role includes coordination, allocation and tracking of plant and equipment across various projects. He effectively communicates work across internal departments to ensure plant and equipment are readily available, in good working order, and transportation is available to satisfy scheduled and forecast contracts and assignments to operations.
Shawn holds leadership and management qualifications in risk management, work health and safety procedures, procurement, auditing and planning machine maintenance. He is currently studying a Master of Engineering Management (SCU). His previous roles have included various positions with over 12 years in the mining sector [Diesel Fitter & Machine operator, Supervisor (services/repairs), Asset Management Specialist], and Truck & Plant Manager roles within the Fraser Coast region.
